Hump week.

We're halfway through the semester, right? Feels that way, anyhow. Not a whole lot to report on either the home- or onsite-front. The main adventure at Oddball this Thursday involved a film which wasn't actually on a reel. (The one on the left. The one on the right is a film properly on a reel, y'see.)

They keep loose reels at Oddball around for this very purpose, and my supervisor showed me how to put the film onto the reel show it can be properly projected. And, like the much-larger reel I came across a couple weeks back, this one is also from the dearly-departed Red Vic.

And on it is my new favorite warning, mostly because of the word "flanges."

When done the Red Vic reels went back to the spot on the wall where they were hanging, and the reel-less film was carefully re-taped and put back in its can. Apparently lots of places keep all their films like that, without their own dedicated reels, but Oddball kicks it old-school. Or new-school. Not sure which school that would be, come to think of it.

This week's Vine is the countdown from the original short film "The Wizard of Speed and Time," also the basis for a feature film of the same name that I have deep love for. I wrote about it for the Weekly a few years back.
